Blame it on your curious neighbour, your mum or the meaningless urban legends; we are constantly getting bombarded with misinformation or blatant lies that continue to confuse us when it comes to making a decision what is good for our skin and what is not. If you are not careful enough, you might end up hurting the healthy tissues of your skin. Here we are trying to get to the bottom of things and find the truth –
1# Acne has some relation with improper Cleansing
Friend, you could not be more than mistaken. Acne has no connection with cleansing or dirt. In fact, it has something to do with the oily skins, genes, hormones, etc. Usually, it is the dead skin cells that are to be blamed for the acne or a pimple. These dead skin cells clog the hair follicles, and it leads to skin inflammation. However, the problem with some people is that they tend to believe that the pimples have something to do with the dirt and that means, they need to clean their skin with soap now and then. Use of gentle cleansers doesn’t cause any problem; however, if you are using general cleansers, you are courting just trouble.
2# Some Products can Shrink Pores
I have never in my life have heard something so ridiculous like this. There is no such product on heaven or earth that can shrink the pores of your skin. However, you can reduce the reappearance of pores by cleaning the affected areas gently. You can clean the pores easily by opting for a facial. It will help remove the pore-clogging debris and thus will make the pores appear small.
3# Perfumes when left in Fridge Elongate the Lifespan of Virus
This is disturbingly misleading. What really happens when you leave your favourite fragrances in the fridge is that it damages the notes of the scents. Constant changes in the temperature might lead to the poor performance of perfume in the long run. This is the reason why perfume should be stored in a cool place far from the reach of sunlight.
4# Skin Should be Super Clean
This is probably the most prevalent myth that needs to be addressed. First of all, if your skin feels a little bit tight after a shower, it means the skin is stripped off vital ingredients that make your skin glow and look healthy. Most of the soaps that we use contain surfactants that remove essential ingredients from skin and make it exposed to pollution. Therefore, it makes sense that you should use right cleanser to clean your skin gently.
5# Toners are Not a Necessity
The problem with most toners is that they tend to dry out skin. Most of the toners that are available in the market contain a high level of SD Alcohol 40, and this can make you extremely dry. But the ‘real’ Toners rarely behave like this. Rather they help people keep their skin healthy.
